2. We are elementary school students of National Hsinchu University of Education . As the 6th graders in Art special program , we have many chances to create art and show our ideas in both traditional and new cultures with various elements.

3. These special dragon pillars are seen in many different temples near our school. For instance, The City God temple (Cheng Huang Temple) has many special wood and stone carvings with unique figures on the pillars. Cheng Huang Temple

4. Also, Chang Ho temple ( outer Mazu temple ) is another great place to see the special stone carvings, wood work, pillars and many beautiful paintings which all show the old and new traditions of wonderful Chinese culture.

5. There is another Inner Mazu temple near our school; it’s one of the oldest temples. We like to look at the ancient designs on the dragon’s face; of course, we love to eat the juicy and yummy meat balls outside the temples as well! The vendor of selling meat balls

6. In the past, dragon pillars symbolized “emperor ”, now they are associated with art and religious followers. After seeing much beauty in different historical temples and learned unique cultures from different kinds of pillars, we painted our ideas on the paper and recreated our special “pillars”. Art is in our everyday life and our life also has pieces of art.
